STUDIO UPGRADE...GEAR CHANGES...
I can't believe how fast the summer flew by. As usual, a ton of changes took place again.
I completely redesigned my recording studio. I decided I actually want to get serious about becoming proficient at audio engineering. The digital recording gear available to the average musician is extremely affordable now. The future of recorded music is no longer in the hands of a select few record labels. That said, being a musician and having the recording gear is not that is in the recipe for a good recording, as evidenced by the samples I have posted on my site here. It only goes to prove how much I have to learn.
So, I bit the bullet and started to learn a bit over the summer. I have been reading some very cool books on audio mixing and mastering. I have realized I must start with a decent recording facility if I am ever going to make professional sounding recordings of my music on my own.
I worked with the folks at GIK Acoustics to help me design the layout for my space. I considered putting an addition on to my house, but decide that might be a bit over the top for where I am at today. Instead, I remodeled the studio space I already had allocated.
Bryan, over at GIK, was extremely helpful in the layout and treatment design for my recording studio. I completed the installation of my GIK acoustic treatments and am very pleased with the sound. Now it is time to lay down some tracks...
GEAR: Okay, I think I am offically a gear junkie. I made some drastic changes in my toy closet. For starters, I sold all my giant, heavy, cluttery PA gear and am now using just my BOSE rig. I trimmed the load back so far I may even sell my band trailer as I can now fit everything in the back of my GMC Acadia
What did I do with the pile of cash generated in the gear sales? Like any good gear junkie, I bought new gear. To be specifc, I purchased a brand new Martin OM42. Absolutely beautiful sounding (and looking) guitar. I still love my other Martin's HD-28 and DM-12, but this one is stunning. It will now be my cornerstone recording guitar. More to come...

SAMPLES!
I had issues with the music player working, so I broke out the song samples into a new page with indivdual links. Hopefully it will be more stable.
I have been working on 3 new original songs, but will not post them until i have them copyright protected...like everything else on my site. Not that they deserve it, but it just makes things cleaner should somene actually like my music enough to try and make it their own...lol.
Been playing live much more this past month and having a blast. Lots of graduation/private parties. Such fun!
I actually did add some newer material to my live song list. They seem to be going over well.
I have been experimenting with a new Godin Midi-Guitar and the Roland VG-99 guitar synth. I have not been real pleased with the VG-99 for acoustic sounds. If I were in a rock band playing lead guitar, this thing would be smokin' hot. But, that is not my reality, so back it goes to the store.
The Bose system has been working out fantastic. I love how compact and powerful it is. I think it may be time to sell some of my larger PA gear. I also have my eye on another new Martin guitar. I am thinking of getting a J-40 or a HD-35 to round out my acoustic arsenal.
May thanks to those who were so generous with the compliments on my new Guest Book. Very much appreciated!
Happy 4th!
